Benchmarking Guide

Colorado Benchmarking is due June 1st!

To meet Energize Denver requirments, buildings 25,000 sq ft and larger must have third-party data verification of the benchmarking data before June 1st, 2026. Procuring energy data can take time, so don't delay.

Accreditation

Compliance Expert LLC is recognized as an official Energy Star Partner. Compliance Expert LLC also employes both Certified Energy Managers (CEM) and Professional Engineers (PE) which are required for third-party data verification.

Penalties

Fines of $2000 for each ordinance can be given for not submitting annual benchmarking by June 1st for Energize Denver and Building Performance CO (Regulation 28). Failure to resolve or pay a citation within 180 days may result in a property lien.

Requirement Options

Third-party data verification is required for Gross Floor Area (GFA), baseline year, and target adjustments. Verification is also required for facility type change, timeline extensions, and custom EUI targets.
