Energy Assessments

* City of Denver ASHRAE Level 2 Energy Assessment Rebates Still Available! *

Why do I need an energy assessment?

Energy assessments provide the foundation for improving the performance of commercial buildings. They help owners avoid ordinance penalties, enhance occupant comfort, reduce energy use, and extend equipment life. We conduct both Level I and Level II assessments, with Level II required for many building performance ordinance compliance pathways.

ASHRAE Level 1

A Level I audit is a high‑level, walk‑through assessment designed to spot obvious energy‑efficiency opportunities. It includes staff interviews and a review of utility data to understand how the building operates.

For some properties, this level of analysis is enough to identify next steps for reducing energy use and meeting ordinance requirements. It also serves as the starting point for more detailed evaluations, including the Level II assessment.

ASHRAE Level 2

Compliance Expert LLC employs Professional Engineers (PEs) to perform ASHRAE Standard 211‑2018 Level II energy assessments. Our assessments meet both Level II and Level II+ requirements for the Energize Denver program and include investment‑grade analysis, project cost estimates, life‑cycle cost analysis for each energy‑efficiency measure, and projected EUI savings.

Requirements

Assessments not only identify energy efficiency opportunities, - they are also a required component of many building performance ordinance compliance pathways. Level II assessments are specifically required for timeline extensions, unique building target adjustments, standard target adjustments, and corrective action plans.
